The BAMMsynth (Building Access in Music Making) is a semi-modular synthesizer designed to support learning with sound in an open-ended manner.
The BAMMsynth was developed to provide a responsive environment for making and designing sound – and music – from the ground up. We’ll be launching the BAMMsynth with Commmunity Music Schools of Toronto (SynthClubs) in Fall 2025.
The goal of the BAMMsynth was to take everything in from earlier ‘Sound Out of Bounds’ modular synth project (see below) and pack it all into one accessible instrument that is easy to make and design sound with, while offering a high-ceiling for exploring multiple facets of audio synthesis, sound design, and music making. Sound out of Bounds was developed with our community music school partners. Learn Modular Synths by exploring the available resources, manufacturer guides, video demos, and tutorials. You can find product documentation and manuals, as well as a number of videos to walk you through working with key modules like the Korg Sequencer, the System80 880 drum machine, the System80 VCOs, VCF, and LFO/Sample and Hold modules, and MATHS.
